GTA VI side activities: kayaking, scuba diving, mini golf, gyms and backyard wrestling
2026-09-30
The Game Informer issue devoted to Grand Theft Auto VI has brought with it a long list of confirmed side activities. It is the first time these have been laid out together rather than dripped out one at a time.
The list
Confirmed so far:
- Base jumping.
- Kayaking.
- Scuba diving.
- Jet skiing.
- Airboating through the wetlands.
- Billiards.
- Mini golf.
- Gyms.
- Street racing and off-road racing.
- Zoos.
That half the list happens on or in the water is no accident. Leonida is a state of coastline, keys and wetlands, and Rockstar appears to have decided the water should not just be the edge of the map, as in previous entries, but somewhere you play.
The backyard wrestling
And then there is the one that took the headlines, the smallest of the lot: backyard wrestling matches.
By the account given, Jason climbs into a makeshift ring in front of around fifty spectators, and what he gets for risking his ribs is a hot dog. Put like that it sounds like a joke, and it probably is, but it is exactly the sort of scene the series has lived on forever: a whole activity built around a gag.
What this means
Two things.
First, the space between missions is filled. One of the recurring criticisms of large open worlds is that between one job and the next there is only road. Here there is a gym, a pool table and a mini golf course along the way.
Second, several of these line up with things already known. Scuba diving and airboating fit the wetlands and keys seen in the second trailer, and off-road racing fits the state's inland areas.
What remains unknown is whether any of it pays out in money, experience or any reward beyond the hot dog, and whether any of it is required to progress. Rockstar has not said.
