GTA 6 on PS4 and Xbox One
Short answer: no. Grand Theft Auto VI is not coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Rockstar Games has confirmed only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19, 2026, and has announced no version for the previous generation.
What Rockstar actually said
Two platforms, and only two:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have never been named in any official announcement: not in the trailers, not in store listings, not in press releases. When a company plans to ship a game on a console, it says so from day one, because that is sales information.
Why it is not happening
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both launched in 2013. By the time GTA 6 reaches shelves, thirteen years will have passed. A game built for the current generation assumes things those consoles do not have: fast solid-state storage to stream the world, far more memory and much greater graphics power.
There is a precedent within the series. Grand Theft Auto V shipped in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, consoles that were already seven years old. Rockstar has shown it can stretch old hardware when it wants to. That it has not done so this time suggests a previous-generation version was never part of the plan.
Your options
Upgrade your console
The only certain way to play on launch day. The confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Wait for PC
Also unconfirmed, but likelier than a PS4 version: in previous entries it arrived months or years later. We track it on GTA 6 on PC.
Be skeptical
